I was privileged to meet Nicole Nanyes, Manager and Vicky Whitney, the Assistant Manager from The Springs Event and Weddings Venue in Terrell, TX during my visit to their venue.
Driving there, even though it is very close to my city of Rockwall, I had the feeling I was far away from the city, deep in the country; it was very nice scenery along the way. I can imagine that for a bride it would be a relaxing and beautiful way to start their wedding.
Here you will see the pictures of Poetry Hall Event and Weddings Venue
Their first building was opened several years ago, and is called Poetry Hall, it is a venue that accommodates up to 320 guests, and has also a dressing suite for the bride and the groom. It is a building that has the Texas country side style, mixing sterling white limestone and dozens of gorgeous architectural elements.
This location offers a gazebo for outdoor wedding ceremonies and a bridge with water running underneath from a small natural creek, great location for pictures!
On this property they have two venues for weddings, their last addition opened this past October 2017, and is called the Rockwall Manor, a beautiful white house that resembles an old farm house.
It is all white inside and out, has a nice touch of lights, fireplace and stairs where the bride can make their grand entrance to her wedding.
Of course, it has a suite for the bride and her friends to get ready and a suite for the groom too.
What I loved the most was the white gazebo surrounded by a beautiful pond on one side and trees in the back. To get there you cross a bridge with a small cascade of water running that just adds the perfect touch to the place.
This venue is perfect for a small and intimate wedding, away from the sounds and stress of the city.
Whether you book the Rockwall Manor or Poetry Hall venue you will receive the following amenities:
All in all the place is magical, relaxing and brings you to a place of serenity and natural beauty.
I have to mention that The Springs has venues in Denton, Mckinney, Weatherford, Houston and Oklahoma.
Nicole and Vicky are very sweet ladies that will do their best to meet the needs of the bride and groom, you can feel how much they love what they do and more than that how much they love their brides.
Certainly, when you are looking for a venue for your wedding it is important to have a lovely location but more importantly to have someone in your corner to help you make your day memorable. Here you will have it all in one package!
Definitely after having been there in such a tranquil and lovely place, I wanted to get married all over again!
Some years ago, I met this lovely lady who was so open and ready to help other women at Rockwall Women in Business; years later I had the opportunity to learn more about her and what she does, and she kept doing things to help me with my business.
She has impressed me deeply by her caring and unselfish actions as a business woman, her work as floral designer impressed me even more!! She is so detail oriented, loves what she does, and you can’t be around her and not feel inspired by her creativity!
Domonie had her Grand Opening of her new location for Wild Rose Events & Floral Design store on February 5th, 2018. It was nice to be with her on that day and be able to see firsthand her new location and all the great things that she will be offering there.
Here is my interview with her:
1.- When did you start your business?
I started this business 5 years ago on November, I started it because I love floral, I owned a business like this in the past and I got tired of working for other people, so I thought I can do it better, for brides that appreciate my work more than my employers did.
2.-Why did you choose to become a florist?
Well it is kind of a weird story, my husband, well then boyfriend wanted me to get a regular hourly paying job instead of doing a freelance graphic design that I was doing; so, I applied for a florist job that didn't require any experience. I think I did it long enough to get it off my back and here we are 20 years later and is so challenging and has so many components that still excite me to this day.
3.-What is the trend on wedding florals for 2018?
Usually, we find that this area of the country is a couple of years behind other areas, so the Boho trend is continuing which is more messy looking, lots of greenery, lots of texture. The color predicted for this year is lavender, but we won’t see a lot of that for another year or two. We still are seen a lot of blush and burgundy type tones right now but we will be seen the lavender tones and the dusty blue tones picking up.
4.-What is the average cost of the wedding flowers?
Well, it really can vary quite a bit. Right now in Texas, the average wedding is running around $29,000 dollars. Usually between 10 to 20% is spent on flowers, we find currently that our brides average budget on floral and décor is around $2500 to $3000 dollars.
5.- Do you have any recommendations to help the bride to get the most of the floral for her investment?
Sure. Number one find a florist who respects your opinion and respects your budget. If they are saying that you would have to pay a minimum amount or they won’t even talk to you, look for someone else. We price according to exactly what is in your order, we have a lot of flexibility without minimums and it just calls for getting creative using more greenery, using less expensive flowers; it can still get you a beautiful look and whole look without having to break a bank. So find a floral that you can really trust and give them the chance to make some suggestions and really listen to those suggestions.
6.-What do you have to offer to families that are celebrating a special occasions like sweet sixteen, graduations, milestone birthdays and so on?
We can help with any of those. The sweet sixteen are actually very much like a wedding so we do a lot of the same kind of discussions and ideas and have a lot of décor rentals that can be used for that. For the other items like just a birthday and stuff like that, we offer a delivery of a flower arrangement or gift item on that day for them, kind of most regular floral deliveries are.
7.- Is there anything else that you would like to say?
We also offer some other services and some unique things. We offer wedding coordination, linen rentals, we now are offering an off the rack location for Providence Bridal so we have a lot of gowns at a very good value price, beautiful gowns ready to go right out of the store in addition for getting a lot more creative for a father-daughter dance, quinceanera, whatever. We are offering brooches, bouquets, paper bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages made out of unique items. We had lapel pins made out of shotgun shells; we just really like to get creative.
8.- I have noticed that you are offering a floral arrangement class, can you tell us more about that?
We call it Wild Floral Design and we teach a different skill set each month and we tried to build a little bit in what you have done in the other months, but if you haven't been before you will catch pretty quickly. So for upcoming, we have a class for doing a basket arrangement, for doing a flower crown, for doing a succulent garden. Earlier this year we did a tropical design. We have every body’s favorite every year which is the Ikebana design coming up as well. We try to create a lot of unique things and then we don’t do cookie cutter designs, everybody's design is going to be different because they get to choose their own product and often their own container, so that you are not competing on how well your neighbor does, you are learning how to do the techniques needed to make the design and make yours special and something you are excited to take home.
These classes are at our studio at 616 East Lamar Street in Royce City.It is $50 dollars for the class and we usually have some snacks and drinks and some great conversation.
Runs from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday night once a month. The dates vary.
This is a vendor that I highly recommend to the brides and any family celebrating a special occasion.

TSA Pre Check is a program that gives travelers leaving from the U.S. access to an expedited security screening program at the airport. U.S. citizens and lawful permanent U.S. residents can apply for the program and go through a screening process in order to become a “trusted traveler.”
Perks of TSA Pre Check
Anything to make your airport experience better is worth it, right? And probably one of the least enjoyable parts of air travel is the security process. TSA Pre Check pretty much eliminates that less-than-desirable part by giving trusted travelers these perks:
The Pre Check ProcessIt’s really not that bad – just three steps.
After an applicant is approved as a trusted traveler with TSA, they’ll get a Known Traveler Number (KTN) in the mail within two to three weeks.

Based on the information provided to me by my host agency, KHM Travel Group and my experience booking my customers trips I will say:
Winter Months: From December 21 to March 19th 2018
If you don’t mind the cold weather this is the best time price wise to go to Europe and South America. In Europe it will be winter like here but in South America it is Summer and you can enjoy their beautiful beaches.
All the Caribbean will have great discounts during these months, some resorts offer 40%, 50% sometimes even more when running a promotion.
Best value weeks for winter travel:
Spring Months: From March 20th to June 20th 2018
During the Spring months you can still have a very good value for your investment since you will be travelling before the peak season, that time here in America is all summer.
Europe and South America start their peak season in these months, to take advantage of the extra perks and good prices, make sure you book your trip at least 6 months prior to your trip.
Cruises offer great promotions, so it is probably the best time to go on one.
During this Spring Break there will be many promotions for the Caribbean but to take advantage, look for them around November or December to get the best value for your investment.
Summer months: From June 21st to September 21st
This is the busiest time of the year for travel. Book your family vacation at the end of December no later than February to make sure that you take advantage of the early bird discounts, kids stay free promotions and so on.
Peak travel: All summer
Best value weeks:

I have experienced all the facets of traveling with children. I have traveled with my few months old baby, with a toddler, preschooler and with a school age kid. All of them are different, each requiring attention to detail to make sure that you have a good family vacation from the moment you start to the time you return.
Traveling with Babies: I would consider a baby from new born to 2 years old
Traveling with Toddlers: I would consider a toddler from 2 to 4 years old
Traveling with young kids: I would consider kids from 5 to 7 years old on this group.
Traveling with older kids: I would consider kids from 8 to 18 years old on this group.

My husband and I were looking for a special gift for our 8 year old son and for all of us as family.
We live in the Dallas area and I had checked several options but the one that caught our attention was the Gaylord Texan because was nearby, (in Grapevine, TX) and due to the variety of kids activities.
We chose a package that included ICE tickets and a hotel stay which was cheaper than buying the tickets separately.
Upon our arrival on December 23th the hotel was crowded but everything flowed pretty well considering the date. Our check in was smooth and we received our room 1.5 hours later but we were able to drop our luggage in custody and enjoy the hotel while we waited.
Our room was located in the River Walk section, the view was to the parking lot (we didn’t choose any upgrade or balcony room which looks at the hotel grounds). It was a very quiet section and the room was pleasant and with very comfortable beds. The only thing I could tell was missing from a 5 star hotel is the make-up mirror in the bathroom.
Our dinner celebration was at Zeppole Coastal Italian restaurant in the hotel, you have to make reservations to go there since it is very popular and is hard to eat there without one.
My husband ordered Grilled chicken and he said it was delicious, all gourmet presentation, mine was a Cavatappi pasta with lobster and shrimp, real Italian flavors! To finish our great night we ordered the dessert called Tuscan lemon tart that was a great deal, we both loved it! If you have a sweet tooth like I do, I definitely recommend that you try this one!
My son was absolutely surprised that day, we told him that we were going out to eat, that we will go to some place out of our area, so when we arrived to check in at the hotel he was shocked in a good way. He loved the activity that is Build a Bear, he made his Tinsel (a stuffed blue rain deer) which put a great big smile on his face!
We also experienced ICE, the sculptures made with ice that have a different theme each year. It is a great experience for the whole family, just make sure that you bring your thick coat, your scarf, warm hat and gloves, it is 9 degrees there and you will really freeze to death if you are not prepared. The nativity scene was my favorite piece of this exhibition!
Our only son is growing too fast, this year for us Christmas was more about building memories together as a family, we never know what lies ahead but definitely we left the place with wonderful memories that will last over time!

Sex is a human necessity that goes much further than reproductive functions since it helps the couple development. There is no other activity that can reinforce more the couple’s bond, generating the idea of a common intimate space that allow the couple evolve and connect in a deeper way.
With years going by, our lives can become a routine, many times the sex quality with your partner decays. Even though there are very important points in which you should work out with your partner to improve your intimacy like an adequate communication, feel loved and respected; it is not redundant to give a little extra help to your partner with an aphrodisiac.
According to the Royal Spanish Academy, aphrodisiac are substances that excite or stimulate sexual appetite, it has been used since immemorial times. Though many of the aphrodisiac food haven’t been proved scientifically, there are many people that say they are really effective.
Something to have in mind when using aphrodisiac is that every gender functions and responds to different stimulus, so here are some male and female aphrodisiacs.
Women feel in paradise when they get in a pleasant space with fragrances that incites pleasure like scents that aphrodisiac flowers release. Jazmin is the one that stands out the most. It can be put into baths or massages, a good complement are rose petals. You can also consume the following aphrodisiacs:
❖ Chocolate gives a relaxing and pleasing sensation
❖ Asparagus stimulate certain parts of the brain associated to sexual desire and pleasure
❖ Ginger increases blood circulation in extremities, and as a consequence generates a higher blood circulation in the pubis area, increasing sexual desire and pleasure
❖ Almond is an aphrodisiac too since it excites women and increase sensations from the clitoris, making it hypersensitive and increasing its pleasure degree.
❖ Cinnamon increases the corporal temperature and libido on a significant way
❖ Seeds and dried leaves from anise to increase sexual desire are stimulating and tonic
❖ Greek hay increases sexual pleasure
Valera (2010) indicates that a good recommendation for men is to fast one day a week when they are past 40 years old and once a year for men younger than 40. Additional to this recommendation, you can consume the following aphrodisiacs:
❖ Ginseng, it is considered “the aphrodisiac king.” A warm tea fifteen minutes before going to bed. It is used by Chinese and Korean people centuries ago.
❖ Royal Jelly stimulates the nervous system and also the genitals. Results may take a little to manifest, but they are safe and prolonged.
❖ Sesame seeds and hazelnuts produce resistance and energy, but it must be avoided by people with hypertension.
❖ Garlic and onions are known as aphrodisiacs from a long time ago.
❖ Maca has a wide variety of nutrients; it balances the mind and at the same time it is a powerful aphrodisiac.
❖ Pepper is another aphrodisiac that is recommended to consume when it has been freshly minced and to add to your main dish to intensify it.
❖ Rosemary and aloe are herbs known as depurative (activates blood circulation) and it is recommended to consume it during the cleaning day with no additional food.
